For those of you that don't know, AfroThunder, the name, was originally coined by a childhood friend of mine back in 2002 as my dog's "superhero" name. The name was derived from a picture we had taken of him shaking that caused his fur to look erratic for the moment and the name stuck. His real name was Hunter, and on 15 February 2011, he passed away.

Hunter would have been 17 this year. For the past 16 years he's be there for everything: birthdays, graduations, heartbreaks, and when I returned home from Iraq in 2006 it took him only a moment to realize I was a friend to be welcomed back home.
